      <title>New Look of the personnel with uniforms by Makis Tselios</title>

The general revitalization that takes place under the significant three-year renovation of Creta Maris Convention &amp;amp; Golf Resort, in Hersonissos, Crete, goes to the appearance of the personnel as well, with the new impressive uniforms. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
The famous Greek designer Makis Tselios created elegant uniforms, while keeping the style of the hotel and the philosophy of the company. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
Elegant lines, fine fabrics in suits and shirts, silk scarf and ties, and attention to the detail, are some features of the comfortable uniforms in which the blue colour dominates in combination with white, light blue and beige.

The uniforms are tailored to each employee and their design has not only adapted to the needs and functioning of each employee, but also his style. For example, waiter’s aprons change depending on the theme of the restaurant, the scarf and ties colours vary, with the Resort’s cochlias logo dominating, etc.

In the context of continuous training and retraining of manpower, Creta Maris &amp;amp; Terra Maris Convention &amp;amp; Golf Resort, from the beginning of this year&amp;#39;s season, already held a series of educational seminars for all personnel of the resorts and the Convention Centre.

The administration of Creta Maris &amp;amp; Terra Maris Convention &amp;amp; Golf Resort, located in Hersonissos, Crete, places particular emphasis and invests in education and training of human resources. The General Manager, Mr. Jörg A. Hauri, stresses the importance of continuous training of employees: «The acquisition of additional knowledge and skills by the employees has two very important objectives. First, it contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of business, to the company’s development and ability to provide high quality product and improve its competitiveness.       <title>MIC Talent Search 2009</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;
MINOAN International College will award several &lt;strong&gt;academic scholarships&lt;/strong&gt; for the academic year 2009 - 2010, to gifted candidates who wish to study business or hospitality and tourism management at MIC. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
The competition is open to all high school graduates who meet the entrance qualifications listed below. Students in their final year of high school (graduating spring 2009) are also welcome to participate. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
The &lt;strong&gt;International Scholarship Competition&lt;/strong&gt; will take place at MIC (Terra Maris Convention &amp;amp; Golf Resort, GR 700 14 Limin Hersonissos, Iraklion, Crete, Greece) &lt;strong&gt;on Wednesday May 13th 2009, between 12.00 noon and 3.00 p.m.&lt;/strong&gt; Candidates living outside the area will be able to participate “&lt;strong&gt;on-line&lt;/strong&gt;”. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
The aim of the competition is to identify and support gifted individuals who wish to obtain a university level education at an English speaking institution of higher learning and to pursue a managerial career in business or the hospitality and tourism industry. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;Qualifications for Participation&lt;/strong&gt; 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
In order to participate in the competition, candidates are required:

	To be High School (Lyceum) graduates with an average grade of 80% and above or High School seniors with an average grade of 80% and above

	To submit a 250 – 350 word essay. The topic for the essay is “&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;The relationship between career goals and university education in times of economic uncertainty.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;”

Candidates are required to take a three hour written test designed to assess their:

No special preparation is necessary. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;Assessment Procedure:&lt;/strong&gt; An Academic Committee consisting of the Chief Academic Officer, the Academic Dean and three faculty members of MIC will evaluate each candidate’s test performance. It should be noted that the scholarships will be awarded on the basis of prior academic achievement, letters of recommendation, participation in extracurricular activities, the essay submitted at the time of application as well as the competition test results. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
Finalists for the competition will be short-listed and interviewed by the Academic Committee. The scholarship recipients will then be announced and &lt;strong&gt;will begin their studies on September 21st, 2009.&lt;/strong&gt; 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
The MIC Academic Scholarship covers tuition for&lt;strong&gt; one academic year only &lt;/strong&gt;(it does &lt;strong&gt;not&lt;/strong&gt; include accommodation costs, activity fees, text books and other extras).

      <title>4th BENNALLE OF THE STUDENTS OF THE GREEK SCHOOLS OF ARTS IN ATTIKO METRO SYNTAGMA</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;The 4th Biennale of the students of the Greek Schools of Fine Arts to be presented at the Attiko Metro Syntagma.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;In the exhibition area of the Syntagma METRO the exhibition of the works of the students who participated  in the 4th Biennale of the Greek School of Fine Arts will be inaugurated on Friday 9th February. The exhibition will remain open until the 26th February 2007.&lt;br /&gt;This Exhibition started out as an annual Art competition, which was enacted in 1997 by the Maris Hotels and the newspaper “News Art”, under the auspices of the Athens School of Fine Arts, and a few year later it developed into a Biennale encompassing the participation of the students  of the Department of Fine &amp;amp; Applied Arts of the Aristotelio University of Sa.lonica. In previous years, the awards given to the finest works, and the exhibition of the participating works was held in Crete.&lt;br /&gt;The exhibiting of the works of the 4th Biennale, in which 130 students participated, was held on the 11th November and all works remained for 1 month in the exhibition are of the &lt;a href="{localLink:1300}"&gt;Creta Maris&lt;/a&gt; conference centre, Hersonissos, Heraklion, Crete. This is the first time that this institution has been moved to Athens.&lt;br /&gt;Biennale is the only event in which both Greek Schools of Fine Arts, that of Athens and Salonica, have developed artistic dialogue and has been realized for the past 10 years. &lt;br /&gt;The exhibition will be opened by the Minister of the Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works, Mr George Souflias, on Friday 9th February, at 20.00.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Sponsors of this exhibition are the ATTIKO METRO S.A., the insurance company LLOYDS, George Karavias and Associates S.A.  and the transportation company S.A.       <description>&lt;p align="left"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.maris.gr/candia"&gt;Candia Maris&lt;/a&gt; to be the first MÖVENPICK in Greece&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Yesterday, the Managing Director of Maris Hotels Mr. Andreas Metaxas announced the strategic collaboration of Candia Maris hotel, belonging to the Maris Hotels chain, with the international hotel chain Mövenpick Hotels &amp;amp; Resorts. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;&lt;span&gt;This collaboration will be in the form of a management contract.&lt;br /&gt;Mövenpick Hotels &amp;amp; Resorts will undertake in full the management of Candia Maris hotel, which will be the first hotel of Mövenpick in Greece. &lt;br /&gt;The ownership will not change and shall continue to lie with Μaris Hotels.  &lt;br /&gt;The hotel unit will be referred to as &lt;strong&gt;«MÖVENPICK RESORT &amp;amp; THALASSO CRETE»&lt;/strong&gt;, while the implementation agreement of the new management will take effect in March 2008.&lt;br /&gt;In view of the Candia Maris’ incorporation to Mövenpick, the hotel is going through a stage of complete renovation, in order to correspond to the high and specialized standards in terms of infrastructure and operation of the international chain. &lt;br /&gt;The investment agenda of renovation concerns the resort in its entirety, the surrounding hotel area, outdoor and indoor areas, and even the operational system applied to this date. &lt;br /&gt;MÖVENPICK RESORT &amp;amp; THALASSO CRETE will be fully air-conditioned and will have 215 rooms, 8 Junior suites, 1 suite and 28 bungalows, to which 33 more bungalows will be added (during the period 2007/2008), 4 restaurants, 4 bars, 1 disco, conference centre, event hall, 2 outdoor and 1 indoor swimming pools, shopping centre, recreation services, as well as other similar services, corresponding to a high-category beachfront resort. &lt;br /&gt;We should point out that the management concession does not involve the Thalasso Thalassotherapy Centre that includes Spa, Health &amp;amp; Sport Centre, which will remain under the management of the owner company Maris hotels, however, in harmonic collaboration with  Mövenpick.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;&lt;span&gt;The Managing Director, Mr. Andreas Metaxas, also stressed the following:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;&lt;span&gt;«We are very pleased with the incorporation of Candia Maris to the internationally known Brand Mövenpick. &lt;br /&gt;Our choice was a result of a systematic search we conducted among international chains. &lt;br /&gt;We have chosen Mövenpick Hotels &amp;amp; Resorts, because their operational philosophy was very close to our own: high-quality standards in terms of infrastructure and services and “anthropocentric / guest-centric” hospitality and not an impersonal one.&lt;br /&gt;Since its establishment and to this date, Maris Hotels have been studying, analyzing and always keeping track with international market trends. The future and the international trends of the world tourism market, make strong international collaborations all the more necessary. More specifically, branding is currently one of the strongest trends in the hospitality sector globally, even though it has not yet infiltrated Greece as much as it has in the rest of Europe». &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;&lt;span&gt;The collaboration agreement is expected to benefit not only Candia Maris, but Crete in general as a tourist destination, as for the first time it will be included in the brochures and the marketing agenda of an international chain.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;&lt;span&gt; Mövenpick Hotels &amp;amp; Resorts&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Mövenpick Hotels &amp;amp; Resorts is owned by the Mövenpick Holding by 66,7 % and the investment group Kingdom by 33,3 %&lt;br /&gt;With 80 business or resort hotels of 4 or 5 stars existing or under construction represented in 23 countries, it serves over 5 million guests per year, employing more than 12.000 people. The Swiss gastronomy scene was bowled over by the concept. Prager was offering delicacies for city people who are in a hurry. Prager’s groundbreaking concept of fast and high-quality food spread rapidly across Switzerland. Further operations were opened in Bern, Geneva, Lugano and Zurich. In 1960 he founded his own purchasing and import company and set up a central factory. “Silberkugel” opened in Zurich as an American-style fast-food, take-away restaurant. In 1963 Prager made the daring move across the border, opening a restaurant in Munich. &lt;br /&gt;In 1970, the first wine cellars were opened in Germany and Switzerland and called Caves Mövenpick. Shortly afterwards, Mövenpick opened the first two hotels in Glattbrugg and Regensdorf, while the first hotels outside Europe were opened in Egypt and Canada. In the early eighties two innovative gastronomy concepts were created: the Caveaux Wine Bar and Marché Mövenpick – a restaurant where guests wander between colourful market stands and watch their meal being prepared from fresh ingredients. In 1984, Mövenpick created the Almond Waffle, a tasty edible package for Mövenpick Premium Ice Cream. In the year of the 50th anniversary since the founding of the company, Mövenpick founded the Mövenpick Hotels &amp;amp; Resorts AG with Kingdom Holding as a 33,3 per cent stakeholder. &lt;br /&gt;Following the introduction of extensive organisation changes in 2000, Mövenpick began operating as a decentralised group with the five independent divisions Hotels&amp;amp;Resorts, Gastronomy, Wine, Fine Foods and Mövenpick Produktions AG.       <description>The Creta Maris Hotel situated in Hersonissos Crete and belonging to the Maris Hotel Chain has obtained two new environmental awards, confirming once again the chain’s friendly philosophy towards the environment. &lt;br /&gt;The luxury resort received the award “Environmental TUI Champion 2005” from TUI, ranking it in the top 100 hotels in the world with which TUI cooperates. This evaluation is based on TUI’s check-list for all cooperating hotels and on the clients’ opinion relating to the hotel’s environmental activities in questionnaires which are filled in by them.&lt;br /&gt;The “Green Planet award” was the second award received by Creta Maris Hotels from Kuoni Switzerland concerning its environmental policy.
