Asterias Children's Club at Creta Maris Convention & Golf Luxury Resort
Asterias children's club is a brand new facility opened in June 2009, at the five star Creta Maris Convention & Golf Resort on the Greek island of Crete. An existing building was converted to create this fantastic facility which was built with only children in mind. Asterias is a complimentary service for children aged between 3yrs and 11yrs. Children under the age of 3 may use the club but must be accompanied by an adult.
Asterias is located a short walk away from the main pool. Our little guests can follow the signs from the reception and the pool until they see our Asterias which stand guard over our Club.
The entrance to the club is controlled by a video entry system. This can only be opened from inside the club. Children are never left unattended but for added peace of mind and security we have 4 CCTV cameras to keep an extra caring eye over our garden and creative area.
When you first walk into Asterias you arrive in our garden, though play park is probably a much better description. There are climbing frames, slides, a basket swing, spring toys and a see saw to keep the children busy. We also have a sand pit in a nice shady area for days when the sunshine is just too hot. You will see that safety is our number one priority. The ground is tiled with rubber safety floor to ensure a safer bounce back after any trips or falls. All of the walls covered in colourful soft padding to minimise the number of sharp corners creating an area which is as safe as possible.
As you walk through the sliding doors into our indoor space you see we have one large room with many different areas to play. Decorated throughout in cooling blue and green tones with brightly coloured cupboards and children's artwork on the walls there is no doubt that this is a children's area not just an area for children.
There is a creative area to make souvenirs and holiday memories, a play area with toys and games, a computer zone with games and internet access for the children and a quiet area to chill out or read. We even have our own movie room with a selection of movies available in different languages.
Everything has been designed especially for children from the bathrooms to the play areas. We have a separate bathroom for boys and girls with toilets and hand basins ranging in size to meet the growing needs of the children in our care. In each bathroom there are cubbyholes for children to store their belongings.
We are open Monday to Saturday from 9am until 12:30, 1:30 until 5pm. We are closed between 12:30 and 1:30 but we do offer a supervised lunch club in Almyra restaurant for a small fee of 8.50€. Families must pre-book with a member of staff at Asterias if they wish to use this service.
We have a daily activity programme with themes for each day which runs on a 2 week basis. Each day the programme includes creative activities, indoor and outdoor games which allow us to use the facilities the hotel has to offer such as the mini golf and the tennis courts. The activity programme serves mainly as a guide and where possible we will meet the requests and ideas of the children.
We open three evenings per week, currently Monday, Thursday and Friday between 6:30 and 9pm. We rotate a variety of theme nights like movie night, scavenger hunt, happy holidays night, beach party and outdoor games night.
Asterias Children's Club is an impressive facility with a fresh look, when you step inside you will wish you were 7yrs old again.
It should finally be noted that this year, Asterias Children's Club operates under the supervision of British childcare specialist Worldwide Kids Company (formerly PB Kids Ltd) which enjoys international recognition, having more than twenty years of tradition and experience in quality child care services provided to hotels and resorts worldwide.
